A nostalgic ode to stickers, stationery, and the joy that never left us.

What does your laptop say about you?

For me, it’s a sticker-covered autobiography—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The thrill of a fresh sticker sheet feels like a tiny rebellion.

If bare surfaces make you uneasy, you might be one of us—the creative rebels who find meaning in every sticker, every scrawl.

And if you were born anywhere near 1981 like me, you probably know exactly what I mean. There’s something magical about peeling that perfect corner, smoothing it down with care, and watching a once-blank notebook, laptop, or water bottle transform into you. Your mood. Your vibe. Your season.

Maybe it’s generational. Maybe we’re the last to grow up in the golden age of sticker albums, smelly pens, and glittery trapper keepers. We traded cards, pogs, friendship bracelets, and begged our parents for just one more sheet of rainbow dolphins or holographic unicorns at the mall.

Even now, all grown up and fully digitized, my love for stationery hasn’t gone anywhere. I still light up at the sight of a crisp new notebook, or a fresh sticker pack ready to become part of my laptop’s personality. It’s creative expression, tiny joy, and low-stakes commitment — all in one peel-and-stick move.

There’s magic in small things, especially the ones that remind us who we’ve always been.

My Favorite Stationery Picks

If this post has you itching to peel and stick, here’s a little something for you:

Because bare surfaces? They’re just waiting for a little personality.

What about you? Are you still a sticker/stationery kid at heart? Or did you leave your Lisa Frank era behind? Drop me a comment or share your favorite childhood stationery memory — I’d love to hear it.
